COHI SCHOLARSHIP

The Ph.D. Scholarship It is for dentists from Caribbean countries. Your focus will be on Cariology y Periodontics.

Participant profile

  • Dentist with a master's degree (preferred).

  • A dentist without a master's degree can also apply.

  • Caribbean nationality or currently living in the Caribbean, committed to returning to the Caribbean to work in research.

COHI Scholarship Benefits

Matriculation year

  • US$800 per month, for housing and monthly expenses.

  • COHI will fund the fellow for 36 months which may be extended to 48 months depending on the project and prior approval.

  • All expenses paid (including transportation and accommodation) to attend a conference during the Ph.D. program.

  • We encourage academics to present preliminary results or results of their research project at the conference. Furthermore, this must be decided in coordination with the project advisor.

Note: Round trip travel to/from Brazil is not included.

Requirements

Participants must submit the following documents via the COHI website by February 21, 2022 at 11:59 pm, AST.

  • Curriculum detailing your experience and career in research, mainly in the Caribbean: no more than 4 pages: contact information, education, professional experience, awards, participation in conferences/conferences, publications. Text: Arial or Times New Roman 12 pt. Margins: 2,5 cm on all four sides.

  • Two letters of recommendation.

  • One-page essay explaining your research aspirations.

  • Select an area of ​​research (cariology or periodontics) and explain why this area is important to the Caribbean.

  • Name PDF file to send as follows: APPLICATION NAME / SURNAME + COHI SCHOLARSHIP 2022 – PhD CARIOLOGY AND PERIODONTICS

Important information

  • The candidate after being selected from COHI must take and pass the admission exam of the University of São Paulo.

  • Applicants must complete and follow the acceptance and admission process at the University of São Paulo.

  • To maintain the scholarship awarded, the beneficiary must achieve acceptable academic performance, which will be evaluated annually. An annual report must be submitted to the COHI board.

  • A research project will be prepared with the advisor. One of the projects must be developed in one or more of the Caribbean countries.

  • Visa requirements to live in Brazil are the responsibility of the candidate.

  • The candidate must meet the English and Portuguese language level requirements at the University of Sao Paulo.
